After lunch you will drive across the river to the Isle of Shoals Steamship Company. Upon arrival, board the M/V Thomas Leighton for a cruise to the historic Isle of Shoals. Experience the fascinating legends of the New Hampshire/Maine Seacoast. Little is known but historically crucial, the legendary Isle of Shoals, located six miles off the coast, is an intriguing archipelago of nine islands steeped with history. As you glide through the Portsmouth Harbor, you will see a unique working port with tugboats, tankers, the nation's oldest and active navel yard, the closed castle-like prison, "the Alcatraz of the East", the quaint Olde Port waterfront, five historic forts and three lighthouses. View the beautiful scenery as you make your way through the White Mountains to Marshfield Station in Randolph, NH. Upon arrival, you will board the MT Washington Cog Railway, the only cog railway east of the Rocky Mountains, located in the majestic White Mountains of NH. Your 3hr round trip allows you time to enjoy the summit of Mt. Washington, the highest peak in the Northeast. The Cog Railway brakemen give an on-board guided tour of the railway history and surrounding mountains. A boxed lunch is included while on board, along with admission to the Cog Railway Museum.
